Gerhard's and Sophie's children included:

1. Maria "Wilhelmine" (Minnie) (1857 - 1940) married William SCHWEKE and they farmed at Post Oak Point in Austin County.

2. August (1858 - 1920) married Adele J. SCHARNBERG. They owned a large lumberyard in Fayetteville.

3. Emma Helene (1860 - 1921) married Albert WAGNER, who farmed and built houses. They lived at Willow Springs and at Bartlett.

4. Mary Katherine (1862 - 1943) married Charles Theodore (Charlie) ZAPP. They had a general store at Willow Springs and later lived in Houston.

5. Friedrike Margrotha (1864 - <1870) probably died as an infant.

6. Gerhard Werner (G.W.) (1866 - 1953) married Emma LINCKE. They farmed at his parents' home at Willow Springs.

7. Emilie Friedrike (Emily) (1869 - 1942) married August "Monroe" JOHNSON who owned the Johnson Hotel in Fayetteville.

8. Louis Gerhard (1872 - 1945) married Nora FEHRENKAMP, who was a daughter of his mother's half-brother. Louis was a public cotton weigher and also a bookkeeper at his brother's lumberyard.

9. Charles (Charlie) (1875 - 1882) died as a child.

10. Helene "Matilda" married Adolph D. KRUEGER, who owned a general merchandise store at Fayetteville. He passed away and more than twenty years later, she married Henry C. FEHLER. They spent their later years in McGregor.

11. Ida Mary (1882 - 1960) taught school at Willow Springs for about ten years. She then married Rev. August BETEIT, a Lutheran minister, and lived at Welcome, Hempstead, Coryell, Paige, and Austin among other places.

12. Ella Therese (1884 - 1964) married Rev. Hans KRAUSE, a Lutheran minister, in a double wedding ceremony with her sister, Ida. The Krauses' last years were spent in McGregor.
